Silverpoint

Silver-point is literally drawing with a sterling silver-point. It lasts over time much better than graphite and oxidises to a nice golden browny colour. It differs from pencil in that dark tones have to be built up by repeated shading and hatching over the same area rather than applying pressure. It takes a number of hours to produce something like this. It’s a technique used by renaissance artists such as Leonardo de Vinci.
